The Way, The Truth and The Life (Sermon)
Years ago I studied Greek and the best thing I got out of it was that it forced me to read slow and consider each word. And not just the word but all of the aspects of the word: tense, gender, etc. – there’s a lot in there.
I got to John 14 and was reading how Jesus was saying He’s going away. They don’t know where He’s going but they know “the way.”
Thomas points out they don’t even know where He’s going, how can they know the way.
Jesus says “I am the Way.” I was floored. Of course He adds “And the Truth and the Life.” But it hit me in a way it hadn’t before. I look for the tangible – the obvious. But our “Way” isn’t a road or a path or a system of rules – it’s Him!
