Praying Aside – Ephesians 3 (NIV)

Ephesians Chapter 3 describes Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians but much of it is an aside. He describes his ministry in administration of God’s grace in revealing the mystery. The mystery that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel.

He also is to therefore preach the gospel to the Gentiles of Christ’s boundless riches. He is working for God in His intent of making His manifold wisdom revealed to all for His glory.

Back to the prayer, he prays the Ephesians might be strengthened through the Spirit that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith and know more fully His love and be filled with all the fullness of God.

1. Mystery – through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel (v6)
2. Intent – Through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known (v10)
3. Prayer – To grasp how wide, long, high and deep is the love of Christ (v18)
