New Living – Ephesians 5 (NIV)

Chapter 5 has some great instructions on how to live. It’s a bit abstract in talking about love and light – not a lot of everyday practicality in specifics. But this can really help with mindset and perspective.

He has a section on living above reproach – don’t even have a hint or appearance of these things. I think a big point here is that you shouldn’t entertain these things in the body. If you should stand 5 feet away, stand 10 so that even if you fall down, you’re still ok. Be careful around these things.

Then he talks about light. We shouldn’t mix dark and light. We are light now – it’s time to change. And to encourage others too.

The last section is on submitting to Christ. That in action is wives submitting to the head of the family (husbands) and husbands submitting to the head of the church (Christ). Neither are easy.
