Open Eyes – Ephesians 5:8-11 (NIV)
Open Eyes – Ephesians 5:8-11 (NIV)
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
As we have been changed and have a new nature, we are to live as such. No longer seeking what pleases ourselves but what pleases God. That is good and it’s loving.
I love how he doesn’t just say to avoid evil but expose them. That can be taken many ways and I’m sure some are quite wrong. Expose in ourselves? Expose in others? Rat people out publicly? No, go to them privately then with 2 or 3. Always read the Bible in context of other passages.
But expose them! They are not meant to remain in the dark. If nothing else, for yourself. Expose them to Him. Confess. Go to the light as He is in the light. Open your eyes and see the meaninglessness of the darkness. Expose it. See the truth head on.
