Great movie told very well. The levels and tones of sacrifice, mercy, grace and giving are great.
I see Babette as a Christ-like figure setting aside (not by choice in this case) her “glory” for a time to serve others. She challenged their perceptions on what is acceptable and allowable and how to we can enjoy things we wdn’t expect.
The “feast” scene is great at the discovery and Lorens really opens it up to the enjoyment of the “affair.”
Old sisters with father.
Sacrifice all to serve others.
Big, scary dinner.
