Deuteronomy 1:39 – Think of the Children!
“…your little ones who you said would become a prey, and your sons, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil…”
The people made some bad decisions, particularly believing the spies bad report, and it cost them the privilege of entering the land.
But it also cost their children a lot too – they had to grow up in the wilderness and all that goes w/ it.
Be careful of the decisions you make not only for how it benefits you possibly now, but the long-term effects.
I decided to move to Texas and now my children are growing up here. I’m from New Orleans, but my children will only know that from talking about it. We may go there sometimes, but it won’t be their home. Their kids may only hear about it as ‘where g’pa was from’ or something.
Not that it’s good or bad, but it’s something that will affect my descendants from now on. We sdn’t live only for the future, but we need to consider the implications and long-term affects of things.
