All Good – Philippians 1 (NIV)
All Good – Philippians 1 (NIV)
Verses 12-26:
Paul encourages the readers by letting them know that regardless of any circumstances, what has happened to him ultimately glorifies God. That’s true no matter what. In this case, his imprisonment has led to the gospel being shared more and more. “What you meant for evil, God meant for good.” Daniel being exiled and forced to change his name and be a part of the king’s court, put him in the influence of the king Nebuchadnezzar.
v 18b “The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.”
Further, that’s all that matters: living for Christ or joining Him in death.
v 21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Paul has such a remarkable mindset of eternity and ultimate priorities. He sees what happens here through and for how it serves to glorify God. And outside or after that, is to be with Him! It’s all good!
